Orange unveils new internet bundle for its mobile data users

  • Orange mobile customers can purchase a new bundle, 20MB of data, at KSh20
  • Orange also reduces prices of its 50MB and 100MB mobile data bundles to KSh50 and KSh120 respectively
  • Orange has also launched a data bonus promotion for its mobile and modem customers:
a)      Orange mobile customers who purchase any Internet on Mobile (IoM) or Internet Everywhere (IEW) data bundles in the 20MB to 5GB range to get same bundle free as a bonus.
b)     Orange mobile customers that purchase the unlimited data offerings will get free minutes and SMS with a validity similar to that of the purchased data bundle
  • Orange also unveils the Alcatel T’pop dual SIM smart phone for KSh5,999
Integrated telecommunications service provider Orange launches a new mobile data bundle today, increasing the options its subscribers will have in choosing their bundle of choice.
The new bundle, 20MB worth of data, will be purchased at KSh20 and will have a validity of 7 days. Apart from the introduction of the 20MB bundle, Orange has also reduced the prices of two other mobile data bundles: the 50MB bundle from KSh100 to KSh50 and the 100MB bundle from KSh150 to KSh120.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Maureen Sande says the launch of the 20MB data bundle and the price reduction of the 50MB and 100MB data bundles is in line with the firm’s data strategy.
“This new data offering will give our subscribers more flexibility in choosing their preferred data bundle. The price reduction of the 50MB and 100MB bundles makes our offers more competitive in the market,” says Ms Sande.
For the next three months, Orange will also reward its customers with a 100 percent bonus for every mobile data bundle they purchase, ranging from 20 MB to 5GB. This bonus data can only be used between 10 pm and 6 am.

“As an additional benefit, our subscribers who purchase any Internet on Mobile (IoM) or Internet Everywhere (IEW) data bundle will get the same bundle free as a bonus. For example, a customer purchasing 500MB of data will get an extra 500MB as a bonus,” she said.
Orange mobile customers that purchase the unlimited data offerings qualify for free on net calls and on net SMS that can be used round the clock. Customers can subscribe to the offer by dialing #123# and select option 3 for offers.

In line with its broader strategy of increasing mobile (voice and data) penetration, and uptake via its network, customers will also be able to purchase the Alcatel T-Pop Dual SIM handset, for only KSh 5,999 and get a free 2GB data bundle.
“The bonus 2GB bundle that comes with this new Alcatel smart phone is spread across 4 months. This means a subscriber will use 500MB per month,” said Ms. Sande.
The promotion of this data bonus offer follows the unveil of the ‘Orange Beat Ya Street’ street dance competition, that is the second phase of the company’s ‘Opportunity Changes With Orange’ campaign. Kenyan javelin thrower, Julius Yego, personified the first phase of the campaign, demonstrating a great Kenyan story of opportunity enhanced by the Internet. The three month dance competition will start in July this year, with regional auditions and dance competitions in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Thika as the penultimate stage. The finale will be staged in Nairobi on September 28, 2013. The winning team will receive KSh 5 million in prize money and a chance to participate in an international beat battle in 2014.
“The second phase of this campaign goes to the street, searching for that budding dance crew that is looking for its breakthrough. Orange is creating that opportunity for them - Orange Beat Ya Street - to showcase their talent. All they have to do is upload their dance video onto the competition website. The public vote will determine their entry into the competition,” says Ms. Sande.
