Kenya’s Gina Din Corporate Communications wins international award

Kenya’s leading Public Relations firm, Gina Din Corporate Communications (GDCC), has won this year’s International Stevie Awards - best Public Relations Agency in the Middle East and Africa.

The awards, now in their 7th year recognize great performances in business and attracted over 1,700 entries from organizations and individuals in more than 40 countries. The award ceremony took place in Istanbul, Turkey this week

Speaking during the award ceremony, the GDCC Executive Director Ms. Desiree Gomes said PR had become vital in aiding business agenda and sustainability.

“This is a great honour for us, as demonstrates that our services are now being benchmarked internationally. For me, this would not have been possible without the teamwork, professionalism and creativity embraced by my team,” she said.

GDCC is affiliated to ARCAY Communication Africa and Burson-Marstellar, a leading global public relations and communications consultancy, and will be celebrating its 13th birthday.

Said founder, Gina-Din - Kariuki: “This is very exciting for not only the GDCC family but also the business community in Kenya. Our clients have given us the freedom to be creative and produce global standard campaigns.”

Locally, the company has won the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) consultancy of the year award in 2006, 2007 and 2008 while internationally GDCC has scooped the SABRE awards for financial reporting and call to action with Safaricom.

This is the first time a Kenyan firm is receiving the award since inception in 2003. Honorees were selected through two rounds of judging by business professionals worldwide.

Speaking during the gala dinner, the President of the Stevie Awards Michael Gallagher said: “Despite the harsh economic climate, entries to the International Business Awards (IBAs) actually grew a bit this year, illustrating the increasing importance of The International Business Awards worldwide.”

Organizations all over the world are eligible to compete in the International Business Awards which are divided into over 40 categories, ranging from the Multinational Company of the Year, Best New Product of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year and Executive of the Year to name but a few.
