This project is in line with our objective; to achieve high quality education for our youth through ICT as a tool for delivering knowledge and skills,” KCB Group Chief Executive Dr Martin Oduor-Otieno said while launching the project at Mukimwani Secondary School in Machakos County.

KCB Foundation and CFSK will install 20 computers in each of the eight schools around the country and will also offer technical support and handle maintenance of the equipment.

The other schools benefiting under this project include Maralal High School (Rift Valley), Eluuya Secondary School (Western), Kimana Secondary School (Rift Valley), Habasweni Seconday School (North Eastern), Ngozi Secondary School (Coast), Kyang’ondu Mixed Secondary School (Eastern), Our Lady of Fatima Secondary School (Nairobi) and Obede Mixed Secondary School (Nyanza).

By partnering with CFSK in this project, KCB Foundation will be contributing to Millennium Development Goals which focuses on increasing access to ICT services.

Next week the bank shall be rolling out the annual KCB community week, another educational programme, which will see KCB support several educational institutions across the country.

“The KCB Community week will be observed by all KCB business across the region and will see many needy schools receive support in the form of books, stationery, learning materials and furniture,” Martin Oduor-Otieno said.

He added, “Most of the group’s 5,000 plus employees will be going out to participate in the initiatives and spend time with school-going children.”

This initiative is being carried out simultaneously in at least all the counties and supports the Government’s mission to provide, promote and co-ordinate lifelong education, training and research for Kenya's sustainable development.

The KCB Foundation focuses on community initiatives in five thematic areas namely Education, Health, Environment, Enterprise Development and Humanitarian Intervention.
