The award recognizes organizations that have the most gender responsive policies at the work place.
Leading flower firm Oserian Development Company has been awarded an international award for its gender sensitive policies at the workplace.
The Naivasha- based flower company received the International Labour Award (ILO) and Federation of Kenya Employees Wedge Award for the most responsive gender policies. WEDGE stand for Women’s Entrepreneurship Development and Gender Equality.
Oserian emerged tops during this years competition from among the eight FKE affiliated firms that were short listed for the award.
The award is held annually in recognition of Women and Women’s organizations which have excelled in furthering Gender Development issues. It also recognizes organizations which have policies that encourage gender equality and equity in the management of their human resource through adherence of both local and international standards.
The award comes in the backdrop of a meeting of world leaders last week in the

Kezzah said women and youth played a crucial role in the attainment of Vision 2030, Kenya’s economic blueprint that hopes to propel Kenya into a middle- level income country by the year 2030.
Oserian was judged the overall winner based on assessment on its gender policy, structures for implementation of the policy, a company representative to oversee implementation of Gender Policy and Support to female employees through the provision of maternity leave, breastfeeding program and child care services.
