Regional retailer, Nakumatt Holdings has added yet
another feather to its cap with the launch of a fully-fledged cosmetics
division. The new division, which will provide a sales and
consumer education platform across Nakumatt stores for premium globalcosmeticbrands,
has been unveiled as part of a strategy to advance its retail solutions beyond
conventional supermarket services to a departmental store level.
To set the ball rolling, Nakumatt Holdings has already
sealed a first of a kind exclusive deal to act as REVLON’s local authorised
stockist. The unique deal makes Nakumatt the onlysupermarket chain in Africa,
allowed to sell the full range of REVLON products. Traditionally, REVLONin Africa, Australia and Canadahas
maintained its sales delivery through exclusive departmental and beauty stores
due to its stringent service standards.

Nakumatt’s commitment to invest more than US$ 1million to support the brand’s
local market entry and development. Speaking during the launch of the first Cosmetics’ Division
outlet at Nakumatt Westgate, Nakumatt Holdings Group Lifestyle Category Manager
Ms Sonali Shah disclosed that similar in store CosmeticBars with more
International brands will be progressively unveiled acrossthe retailer’s
Branches in coming months.
“While building upon Nakumatt’s legacy of exceptional
customer service and variety of products,our CosmeticBars starting withREVLON,will
provide the ultimate sensorial and pampering experience as a one-stop-shop for
all your cosmetics requirements,” Ms Shah explained.
And added: “Our discerning shoppers will enjoy a
variety of brands and services ranging from foundation matching to their skin
colour, education on make-up application techniques, skincare, nail treatments,
fragrance among others. This total experience will be the first of its kind in
Kenya!”
The new Revlon Cosmeticbars, the largest in Africa,staffed
by qualified and experienced Beauty Advisors trained by REVLON South Africa
Beauty School, Ms Shah explained, are designed to create an open-selling
environment for premium cosmetics’. The CosmeticBars she added, will also
provide a sales platform that encourages customers to interact with the beauty
Advisors as well as the products.
