XRX Technologies, one of the
leading business technology companies in Kenya today announced that it had
expanded its product portfolio for small businesses.
The new additions include
devices and solutions designed to increase business communication, strengthen system
controls and enhance their capability to store, transmit and retrieve
information wherever they are.
XRX Technologies Managing
Director Lucy Njoroge said during the announcement in Nairobi that the firm was
leveraging on its distribution partnership with Cisco to deliver modern
technology solutions and equipment to Kenyan small businesses, especially those
targeting to expand in the new county government system.
She noted that XRX
Technologies would now offer devices and solutions designed by Cisco including
Voip communication equipment, cloud storage and data security for operational
efficiency and cost effective regional expansion.
“We have today rolled out
include Expresspod- a unique integrated data center in a box that consists of
switching and routing capabilities, blade servers and storage. It is easier to
manage, service occupies less space, consumes less electricity and costs 40 per
cent less,” she explained. The new range also includes Lobby cameras and phones
that once installed take care of the need for a receptionist negating the cost
of hiring one. A new Virtual Desktop is also in the range, coming integrated
with a telephone.
Ms Njroroge noted that the
growth of Internet connectivity and lower cost of access in Kenya is a factor
that small businesses need to take cognizance of since it is a huge enabler to
their growth, particularly as it closes the geographical communication and
physical presence gaps. This was the reason the firm partnered with Cisco to
provide access to the latest devices and services to enable small businesses
run more efficiently and profitably.
The cost of technology, she
said, had also fallen dramatically and devices contained rich features to give
small businesses even better capabilities.
XRX Technologies’ approach will be
to educate small business owners to ensure they invest in the right technology.
“Furthermore, IT budgets are
shrinking every successive year, and the challenge for these companies is to
find more efficient ways of using better technology to achieve more,” said
Ms Njoroge adding that the company had analyzed industry data and expected that
the demand for these services will grow exponentially as various businesses
position themselves to exploit emerging opportunities in the 47 counties,” she
explained.
And added; “These
technologies are nowadays quite affordable particularly for a country like
Kenya that has over 200,000 small businesses. This is a figure that we expect
to rise by nearly half over the next two years, fuelling demand for superior
technologies to give the business owners a platform for strong expansion
without large capital outlays.”Most small business people starting out in
expansion, she noted, rarely consulted professionals and ended up buying more
equipment than they really needed.
