World’s largest textiles and apparel firms in Kenya for Investment assessmentew Tab

Nairobi - A delegation of some of the world’s leading textiles and garment sourcing firms with combined annual revenues of more than US$ 25 Billion, are expected in Kenya tonight on a landmark investment and market familiarization tour organized by the Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development.

The delegation, comprising of 40 global companies expressly involved in the manufacture of major clothing brands, wholesale purchase of textiles and garments for onward sale to leading retailers in Europe and the United States of America will be seeking to explore local investment opportunities.

Speaking when he confirmed the scheduled visit, Industrialization and Enterprise Development Ministry Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed said the delegation has been lined up to visit Kenya’s Export Processing Zone facilities in Athi River and will also be at hand to engage with their local counterparts.

The delegation, will be led by high ranking executives from PVH and VF Corporation, who are some of the world’s largest apparel manufacturing companies which own and market iconic brands worldwide.

Ranked as a US $11 billion apparel and footwear powerhouse, VF Corporation is a global leader in branded lifestyle apparel and footwear with more than 30 brands under its wings. The company’s five largest brands are The North Face®, Vans®, Wrangler®Timberland®, and Lee®.

With revenues of more than US$ 8Billion last year, PVH Corp., one of the world’s largest apparel companies, owns and markets the iconic Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands worldwide. “This delegation will be in the country to evaluate potential investment opportunities which are already listed as a priority sector in our national Industrialization Roadmap while seeking to engage with the government on areas of immediate partnership,” Mohamed said.

And added: “The Ministry of Industrialization will be hosting this tour as part of our mandate to foster industrial development and job creation.” By venturing into the local industrial space, PVH Corp, the world’s largest shirt and neckwear company will be seeking to explore possible manufacturing platforms for its range of renown brands such as Van HeusenCalvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, IZOD, ARROW, Bass, G.H. Bass & Co., Warner’s and Olga, and its licensed brands, including Speedo, Geoffrey Beene, Kenneth Cole New York, Kenneth Cole Reaction, MICHAEL Michael Kors, Sean John, Chaps, Donald J. Trump Signature Collection, Joseph AbboudDKNY, Ike Behar and John Varvatos.
